Trump Approval Hits Record Low of 36% in Fox News Poll as Economic Concerns Grow
October 15, 2026
President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to a record low in a new Fox News poll, with just 36% of registered voters approving of his job performance and 64% disapproving.
The results represent Trump's lowest approval rating in any Fox News survey across both of his presidential terms, reflecting growing dissatisfaction with his leadership and handling of the economy.
Inflation Remains Trump's Biggest Problem
The economy continues to weigh heavily on the president's standing with voters.
According to the survey, 77% disapprove of Trump's handling of inflation, 70% disapprove of his economic policies, and 69% disapprove of his handling of tariffs.
Meanwhile, 74% of voters rate the economy negatively, and just 18% say their families are financially better off than they were two years ago.
For a president who promised lower prices and economic prosperity, the findings reveal a significant gap between his campaign promises and how Americans view their financial circumstances.
Republican Support Is Slipping
Even Trump's Republican base is showing signs of weakening.
His approval among Republican voters has fallen to 76%, down from 92% in March 2025. Among independent voters, 78% disapprove of his performance.
The declining numbers come less than three weeks before the November midterm elections, when Republicans will face voters increasingly concerned about inflation, living expenses, and the direction of the country.
A Troubling Message From Fox News
The poll also found that 53% of voters expect the economy to worsen over the coming year.
Trump returned to office promising to make life more affordable for American families. Instead, the latest polling finds widespread dissatisfaction with his economic leadership and growing pessimism about the future.
And perhaps the most striking detail is where these numbers came from.
Not a Democratic campaign. Not a liberal advocacy group. Fox News.
