President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to 36% in a Fox News poll, highlighting growing public dissatisfaction with his administration less than two weeks before the November 3 midterm elections.
The October 9–12 survey found that 74% of registered voters rated the economy negatively, while 55% said inflation was not at all under control. Only 18% believed their families were financially better off than two years earlier.
The findings present a challenge to the administration's repeated claims of economic success.
Former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who left the administration in August and is joining Fox News as a contributor, has been a prominent defender of Trump's economic policies. Her transition to the network comes as its own polling documents widespread frustration with the president's performance.
The survey also found Democrats leading Republicans 54% to 45% when voters were asked which party's candidate they would support in their congressional district.
Economic concerns remain central to the dissatisfaction. Six in ten respondents identified the cost of living as their biggest economic worry, while 53% expected the economy to worsen over the following year.
The Fox News survey interviewed 1,202 registered voters and carried a margin of sampling error of approximately 2.5 percentage points.
Although polling cannot determine the outcome of individual congressional races, the results document a substantial gap between the administration's optimistic economic messaging and how many Americans assess their financial circumstances.
With Election Day approaching, the figures place renewed attention on the administration's economic record and its effect on public confidence.
