A woman who testified against convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell told federal investigators that Maxwell introduced her to Donald Trump at a New York City party and later attempted to arrange a date between them, according to FBI records highlighted in a new congressional report.
The account is among several examined in a report released October 26 by Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, which investigates Trump's past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and raises questions about whether the Justice Department has adequately investigated individuals connected to Epstein's trafficking operation.
The woman, identified by the pseudonym "Kate," previously testified during Maxwell's federal criminal trial. Her account provides additional insight into how Maxwell allegedly introduced young women to wealthy and influential men.
Importantly, Kate has not accused Trump of sexually assaulting her or engaging in criminal misconduct during their encounters.
Maxwell Allegedly Arranged the Introduction
According to an FBI interview, Maxwell brought Kate to a party in New York City and appeared enthusiastic about introducing her to several prominent men.
At the gathering, Maxwell reportedly "presented" Kate to Trump.
Kate told investigators that the introduction resembled the manner in which Maxwell had previously introduced her to Epstein.
The two reportedly spoke for approximately 20 minutes.
Trump subsequently invited Kate to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, where she later received a tour with Epstein and Maxwell present.
According to the FBI interview, Maxwell made comments suggesting that Trump was interested in Kate and that she should consider herself fortunate.
A separate December 2020 email from a federal prosecutor, summarizing a conversation with Kate's attorney, described Maxwell as having arranged a date between Kate and Trump.
The congressional report cites both records as evidence of Maxwell's role in facilitating introductions between women and powerful men within Epstein's social circle.
A Connection to Mar-a-Lago
The report also references a 1997 tabloid account suggesting that Trump, Maxwell, and Kate traveled to Florida together.
According to congressional investigators, Kate was accommodated at a Trump property during the trip.
These details are significant because they describe personal interactions extending beyond a brief encounter at a public social event.
However, the FBI interview specifically indicated that nothing sexual occurred between Kate and Trump.
The distinction is important: the records establish that Kate reported an introduction and subsequent contact, but they do not establish that Trump participated in Maxwell's trafficking activities.
Maxwell's Role in Epstein's Abuse Network
Maxwell was convicted in December 2021 on federal charges related to recruiting and grooming underage girls for Epstein's sexual abuse.
She was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.
During her trial, multiple women described how Maxwell gained their trust, normalized inappropriate behavior, and facilitated encounters with Epstein.
Kate was among the witnesses whose testimony helped prosecutors establish Maxwell's role in the operation.
Her account involving Trump has now received renewed attention as congressional investigators examine Epstein's relationships with prominent figures in business, politics, and entertainment.
Congressional Democrats Demand Answers
The House Judiciary Committee Democrats' report examines accounts involving 11 women and alleges that the Justice Department has failed to adequately investigate potential participants in Epstein's abuse network.
Representative Jamie Raskin, the committee's ranking Democrat, has called for an independent special counsel to review the evidence and investigate whether additional crimes occurred.
The report also criticizes the Justice Department's handling of previously withheld or heavily redacted investigative records.
The Trump administration has rejected allegations of wrongdoing and characterized the Democratic investigation as politically motivated.
Trump has repeatedly denied participating in Epstein's criminal activities and has maintained that his relationship with Epstein ended years before the financier's 2019 arrest.
Questions About Epstein's Powerful Connections
The latest disclosure adds another documented account to the extensive record of social interactions among Trump, Epstein, and Maxwell during the 1990s.
It also illustrates why investigators continue examining Maxwell's role in connecting women with influential individuals.
While Kate's account does not accuse Trump of criminal conduct, it raises questions about the nature and extent of his interactions with Maxwell and women connected to Epstein's circle.
For congressional investigators, the central issue is whether all relevant evidence has been examined and whether the Justice Department has provided sufficient transparency about its handling of the Epstein investigation.
As additional records emerge, the challenge remains distinguishing documented associations from allegations of misconduct while ensuring that survivors' accounts receive appropriate scrutiny.
