Stormy Daniels payment becomes public

The Wall Street Journal reported that Michael Cohen had arranged a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. Trump denied the alleged sexual encounter. Public accounts of who authorized and reimbursed the payment shifted over subsequent months. The disclosures sparked scrutiny of the nondisclosure agreement, campaign-finance rules, and records of the reimbursements.
